Steak in a Cast Iron Pan
With a loaf of French bread, this Smoked Maple Syrup steak can be an amazingly successful one-pan meal.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 or 2 8oz. New York strip steaks or equivalent
- Touch of olive oil
- 2-3 tablespoons Smoked Maple Syrup
INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat a cast iron pan on “high” over the stovetop with just a touch of oil to prevent initial sticking of the steak.
- Sear both sides of the steaks for one minute then reduce heat to low/medium.
- As the steaks begin to release moisture and juices, add the smoked maple syrup.
- Simmer for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, flipping once, and serve.
- You'll want a loaf of crusty bread to complement the meat and sop up the drippings.
